Saint Mary’s University offers a variety of on-campus housing options that allow you to live in the heart of university life. You will develop lasting friendships, experience a great variety of social and educational activities, meet many people from around the world and be a part of a very close community.
Housing Options
Students who live in on-campus housing are able to enjoy a number of conveniences located on campus which include:
Our residence complex is home to over 1,000 students. It is composed of three buildings: Vanier House, Loyola Residence and Edmund Rice Residence.
Unfortunately, preferences with regard to room types, floor types, or buildings noted via the application process are not guaranteed. Not all students who apply for a particular residence (such as Rice or Loyola South senior apartments) or room type (such as super singles) will be able to be placed per their preferences, as we have many more applications for these bed spaces than available spaces.
New residence students (i.e. students who did not live in residence here at Saint Mary's the year prior) should expect to be placed in Loyola North or Vanier in spaces that require full meal plans.
Returning residents who retain seniority have a better chance to be placed in Rice or Loyola South senior apartments, though this is not guaranteed, as the demand for these spaces far exceeds the number of available spaces of this sort in our residences. Based on a variety of factors, some returning students who have retained seniority, as well as any returning students who have not retained seniority, will be placed in Loyola North or Vanier spaces.
We currently have a limited number (approx. 100) of shared double room bed spaces (i.e. two students share a bedroom) in Rice residence, but otherwise, all of our single student housing bed spaces are single or super single rooms located in Loyola North, Loyola South senior apartments, Vanier, and Rice residences.
