In 2024, alumni, faculty and staff helped to raise more than $37,000 to help fight food insecurity, supporting more than 4,000 student visits to our Community Food Room.
On December 2, double your impact. The J & W Murphy Foundation and Saint Mary’s University Alumni Association have pledged to match all individual donations to Saint Mary’s Student Wellness Fund to help promote food security for post-secondary students.
Each Giving Tuesday, we stand with student-led food banks across Nova Scotia because hunger shouldn’t be a barrier to learning. With over half* of Canada’s post-secondary students reporting food insecurity and Nova Scotia among the highest in the country, a province-wide, all-campus campaign lets institutions pull together to meet urgent need—and show students they’re not facing this crisis alone.
Through the generous partnership with the J & W Murphy Foundation and SMU Alumni Association, your donation, regardless of size, will make a big difference in supporting our students.
With your help, we can help ensure our students don’t go hungry this holiday season because a world without hunger is truly a World without limits.
