Offer Package and Payroll Forms
Review your offer letter and ensure you submit all the necessary documents as instructed by the return date indicated in your letter. Relevant documents include your signed offer letter, the Employee Action Form (including your banking information), Federal and Provincial Tax Forms, and Employment Equity Workforce Survey.
Before you can commence your first day, the applicable documents above MUST BE returned to the President's Office via:

Benefits
SMUFU members are eligible for benefits through the Saint Mary's University Health and Wellness Trust Group Benefits Plan, which is administered by the Saint Mary's Faculty Union Health and Wellness Trust.

ITSS provides support for such services including Brightspace, Faculty webpages and classroom support.
Self-Service Banner Account (A#)
Self-Service Banner is a service that allows faculty can use it to view your class schedule, access payroll information, sign up for electronic T4s for tax filing and update contact information. Your Self-Service Banner username is referred to as an A# because every username starts with the letter A and is followed by eight digits (eg. A12345678). Your A number is also your Employee number.
Computer Account (s#)
This account is used to access email, network drives, SMUport, campus computers, and other services. Your computer account username, or s#, starts with the letter S and is followed by seven digits (eg. s1234567). Your S number is a confidential, and should not be shared with anyone.

Work Location and Parking
Check out the campus map, and familiarize yourself with your office location, parking, food, and other services. Go one step further and take a virtual campus tour.
Parking permits are issued through Facilities Management (McNally South, Room 011). Parking on campus without a valid permit will lead to ticketing. You will not be issued a valid parking permit until ALL outstanding tickets have been paid. There are several areas parking areas on campus, along with FAQ related to parking.
Full time faculty and full time professional librarians may purchase a 12 month parking permit through payroll deduction. Payment through payroll deduction will be taken up to a designated date each year. This date is determined on an annual basis by Facilities Management. The fee for the parking permit will be deducted from the employee’s pay for 10 consecutive pays according to the schedule put forth by Payroll Services.
Payroll deduction shall not be used for carpool or motorcycle permits. Payroll deduction requests made after the designated date will only be considered for new employees and employees returning from approved leave, excluding vacation leave.
Part time faculty shall receive one above ground parking permit, upon submission of a parking application. If carpool or underground has been chosen, the permit must be paid for at the full time faculty rate. Part time faculty may not use payroll deduction.
Visit HfxRidematch.ca to arrange a carpool or take advantage of the University carpool program which allows members of the university community to have access to designated carpool spaces. Saint Mary’s University strongly encourages the university community to consider more sustainable forms of transportation such as public transit, walking, biking, or carpooling whenever possible.
Campus Services
University Security patrol the Campus, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Should you require access to a building / office after hours, bring your Faculty ID with a signed letter of authorization from your department head to the Security Center in McNally Main, Room 016 and a Full-time Security Officer will assist you.

The Patrick Power Library offers faculty support, research resources and archives.
The Homburg Centre is the focal point for health and wellness initiatives at SMU. Sign up for a discounted SMUfit fitness membership (if eligible) and take advantage of the variety of SMUfit Programs avaliable on campus. Jr. Huskies Camps are offered to children during the Spring and Summer.
Additional access to on campus services include Postal Outlets and Daycare and local schools.
