Sobey School Business Development Centre
As part of the Sobey School of Business, the Sobey School Business Development Centre exposes students to relevant, challenging business problems, and enables them to find solutions. Students reap valuable benefits from this strong, ongoing connection between the University and industry. The Spark Zone, a sandbox project of MSVU, NSCAD and Saint Mary's University, is hosted at the SSBDC.
The Port of Halifax
The Port of Halifax serves the world's leading cargo shipping lines, providing core logistical support for the East Coast. The Port is a valuable partner for the MTEI program, providing student internship opportunities.
InNOVACorp
A primary source of early-stage venture capital, InNOVACorp provides MTEI students with space in its state-of-the-art incubator facility. The organization also provides mentorship and contributes to course resources to enrich the student experiences.
Launch36
Launch36 is a program designed to develop the next generation of high-growth technology firms on the East Coast. MTEI students can take advantage of valuable knowledge transfer within this cohort-based accelerator initiative for early-stage founder teams. They help entrepreneurs increase their chances of long-term success by providing an early opportunity for funding, mentorship, knowledge, and support.
The Liberated Learning Consortium
Hosted at Saint Mary's, The Liberated Learning Consortium is an international research network, dedicated to advancing speech recognition technology and techniques to create barrier-free learning environments. The Consortium was founded by Saint Mary’s University and IBM Research through a Joint Study Agreement that engages like-minded organizations. Saint Mary’s University hosts the Consortium’s management team and support systems. LLC conducts research and development on two interrelated applications may be deployed on cloud and mobile platforms:
- Using speech recognition to automatically caption spoken language and display it as readable text
- Using speech recognition to produce and disseminate accessible, multimedia transcript
Nova Scotia Business Inc.
Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) is Nova Scotia’s private sector-led business development agency. Its mission is to help companies enhance their competitiveness through trade development, financing and venture capital. The organization attracts new direct investment to the province, including financial services and technology companies.
Economic and Rural Development and Tourism
Economic and Rural Development and Tourism (ERDT) leads the implementation of Nova Scotia’s economic growth strategy – jobsHere. The department works closely with economic development agencies and partners to help achieve the plan’s 3 goals:
- Helping Nova Scotians learn the right skills for good jobs
- Growing the economy through innovation
- Helping businesses be more competitive globally

Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) anticipates that the Sobey School's Master of Technology Entrepreneurship graduate degree program will provide more pathways for their graduates and others to further acquire and develop the skills and knowledge they need to be successful.

Women in Science and Engineering
The MTEI program supports the Women in Science and Engineering, Atlantic Canada Region (WISE Atlantic). Working with Mount Saint Vincent’s NSERC Chair of Women in Science and Engineering Dr. Tamara Franz-Odendaal, we will continue to explore the connections between WISE Atlantic and its NSERC Chair’s efforts, and the students and graduates of the MTEI program.
Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT)
Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT) is a national volunteer organization. CanWit encourages young women to consider a career in technology, help accelerate, retain, and support the careers of women already in the field, and through partnerships, offers a premier platform for entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts to meet and build great women-led technology-based businesses. CanWIT also offers a National eMentorship platform. Funded by Status of Women Canada, the National eMentorship Program offers a supportive online community in the tech sector across Canada.
Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance)
The Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance) grows the revenues of its members by creating a chain of expanding value that ripples across Canada’s innovators, commercializers, and other professionals. The largest high-tech association in Canada, CATAAlliance matches businesses with opportunities across almost every sector, so that we can all do business together. Through its Innovation Nation advocacy program, CEOs come together to catalyze the development of the Canadian business environment. CATA is a foundation for commercialization, market research, networking, events, access to other associations, and professional development, across the nation.
